PMI Short Courses - Educational Opportunities
PMI Offers Businesses, Universities and Organizations a Chance to Catch Up on the Latest Trends in Pore Structure Characterization and More

Participants of the May 2007 Short CoursePMI's Short Course brings together our experts in pore structure and characterization, as well as technical specialists from industries, research laboratories and universities, for three days of intensive lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice. The material presented addresses the theory and application of methods for determining pore structure and distribution in a wide variety of materials.

Attendees learn the basics and catch up on the latest advances in porosity characterization techniques. Our Short Course schedule will include plenty of time for one-on-one discussions with PMI's technical staff. We finish each course day with an evening of dining and sightseeing in scenic Ithaca, New York.

Starting in 2008, PMI will be expanding the reach of their short courses. The company originally hosted the events at their company headquarters, located in Ithaca, NY. The company has combined its efforts with other Dr Gupta speaks to the participants during one of our short coursesbusinesses and organizations to offer these educational classes worldwide.

In February 2008, our first UK Short Course will be held at Loughborough University in Leicestershire, UK. The short course, titled "Characterization of Pore Structure of Filtration Media and Membranes", was coordinated by PMI along with Stephen Smith of Parker Hannifin, Ltd. and Professor Richard Wakeman of Loughborough University. The course will help companies in the filtration media and membrane industries to catch up on the latest trends in pore structure characterization, data analysis, determining errors while testing, and much more. Participants are encouraged to bring sample material as well as questions, and lengthy discussions are a normal part of all of these courses.

What does the future hold for PMI and the Short Courses? Well, we are currently in the planning stages of three more over-seas courses - one each in India, Germany and Japan. While nothing is set in stone as of yet, PMI is extremely excited about these ventures and looks forward to combining forces with other distributors and organizations to bring courses to all parts of the world.

PMI Engineers mingle with participants aboard the M/V ManhattanPMI is also planning their normal "at home" short course, with our first one to be held during the week of May 12th - 16th, 2008. Aside from the educational information, informative discussions and hands-on experience in our world-class testing labs, we also offer participants the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful scenery you'll find anywhere. We offer a dinner-boat cruise aboard the M/V Manhattan, which serves a wonderful dinner while cruising along Cayuga Lake.

Participants will also have the opportunity to see some of our natural wonders, and one of Ithaca's landmarks; our natural waterfalls. These waterfalls are one of the main attractions here in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and participants can choose to go on an all-day trip to see as many of the falls as we can pack into One of the waterfalls on the tourone day, or a half-day trip which focuses on only three of the falls. Another local attraction is the Finger Lakes wineries. We will take all interested attendees on a short wine tasting trip to some of our local wineries. Many of the participants end up having bottles shipped to them once they have left! Last, but certainly not least, we offer a walking tour of the prestigious Cornell University campus. This Ivy-League school offers seven undergraduate units and four graduate and professional units in Ithaca, two medical graduate and professional units in New York City, and one in Qatar. The campus is located in downtown Ithaca, just minutes from our headquarters and Ithaca Regional Airport.

Porous Materials, Inc. is very excited about these and all future partnerships with current and new friends.
